11.5 Months

Hi all,

As usual it has been a busy 2 weeks since our last update. The biggest change is that Evan has gone back to work and I've resumed full-time Mommy duties. Things are going well but it's again been a bit of a transition for all 3 of us!

Isaac is becoming more and more of a mischievous character! Rather than playing with toys he prefers exploring his environment and playing with whatever he finds - the crib board, the garbage, frying pan, and his favourites...cords and plugs! We're working on getting him to understand (and respond) to "no" but so far we are getting mixed responses!

We're still close with the 7 other couples we did prenatal class with and the birthday celebrations have begun (8 birthdays in a few weeks is a lot!). We also had a small pre-birthday celebration for Isaac while Baba Judi was visiting. Another highlight was visiting a "farm" market in Abbotsford. At first Isaac was unsure about touching the goats but with a little demo from Grandpa, Grandma, and Daddy, Isaac was eager to grab hold!

Here are the pictures and videos. Enjoy!

Isaac's first "1st birthday" celebration

Last night we did a little pre-birthday celebration for Isaac at the club with the Morris family and he had his first taste of cake (lemon!). Here are some cute pictures of Isaac and his Baba.

11 Months

Hi all,

It's been a busy couple of weeks! Isaac is a very sociable little guy and enjoys making new friends, whether it's at the playground or with our houseguests. He's getting closer to free standing but right now it only ever lasts a couple seconds before he "notices" and plops back down. But he is starting to take a few steps while we hold his hands! Isaac and I drove to Oliver to visit Grandma and GGma and GGpa (great-grandparents) while Evan went on a boys trip to Portland for a few days. It was good to see them and make some very special memories (and get a couple bottles of Okanagan wine!). And now we are lucky to have Baba visiting. Evan, Isaac, and Judi took a trip to the aquarium this past week and Isaac's favourite is still the jellyfish!

Hope you enjoy the pictures and a couple videos!

Isaac - 10.5 Months Old!

Hi all,

Isaac has grown up a lot over these past couple of weeks. He's gone from 3-4 naps a day down to 2 longer naps (so now he's like all the other kiddies his age) and is going to bed a bit later these days. He can use a straw, can hold his bottle by himself (when he feels like it) and had his first taste of ice cream. He got up close and personal with his first cat and dog and wasn't scared of either - in fact he was very interested in both (there was some tail and ear pulling, but the critters handled it very well). Isaac attended his first baseball game and casting call (he did not get a call-back for the diaper commercial - obviously they made a huge mistake :P ).

Hope you enjoy the pictures and videos!

Love,
Melisa, Evan, and Isaac

10 Months!

Hi all,

Isaac is 10 months old! One of the most obvious changes since our last email is that Isaac's hair is now curly - somehow over the last week and a half it's been getting curlier and curlier! Isaac now has 4 teeth, he's perfected his fake (attention-getting) laugh, is very liberal with kisses, and claps on demand (he understands when we say 'can you clap?'). We had some special visitors - Isaac's Baba and Auntie Sari each came and stayed with us for a few days. We also had a few milestones - Evan's first Father's Day (we spent it at a street festival where Evan participated in a pizza eating contest - and no, thankfully he did not win!), Isaac's first Canada Day (we spent it at Granville Island with our friends), and Evan and I spent our first night away from Iz (we went to Seattle for a wedding while Grandma and Grandpa did an amazing job of looking after our little boy).

We hope you enjoy the pictures and videos!

9.5 Months

Hi all!

Our little boy is almost 10 months! He now kisses himself in the mirror, loves shoulder rides, and is terrified of tooth brushes. He is cutting his top 2 teeth right now but handling it very well. Isaac is very adventurous and pulls himself up on things and plops right back down without being phased in the slightest. He can even climb stairs (though we don't allow it as he likes to randomly push backwards and launch himself back down). I spent my first night away from Isaac and went to Whistler last weekend to do a 10km run with my friend - Daddy and Isaac did very well without me :)

Here are the pics and videos from our last two weeks!

9 Months

Hi all,

Isaac is 9 months old and very good at getting around! He is starting to be able to pull himself up on furniture and can clap his hands and wave bye-bye. He also does the cutest thing - he kisses himself in the mirror! Over the long weekend we enjoyed a visit from Auntie Ali and got to watch her go sky-diving! Isaac has started to sleep through the night - not every night but 3 or 4 times in the last week he has slept from 6:30 pm until 5:30 am. It makes for an early morning but it's a step in the right direction. He is still a very happy and curious baby.

As always, we hope you enjoy the pictures and videos.

Love,
Isaac, Melisa, and Evan

8.5 Months

Hi all,

Isaac is a mischievous handful these days! He somehow knows everything he shouldn't play with and heads straight for them! His favourites are electrical cords and Mommy's laptop bag. He can pull himself up on the furniture and crawl really quickly! My first Mothers' Day was really nice - Isaac and Daddy made me breakfast and we went for a walk on the seawall!

As always, we hope you enjoy the pictures and videos!

Isaac - 8 Months!

Hi all,

Isaac is officially mobile! He can crawl and easily go from crawl position to sitting. He's still not fast but he can get where he wants to go!Isaac also stood up while holding onto something for the first time a couple days ago. He is making lots of new sounds (clicking, ppppft, and blowing bubbles) which apparently means that more speech will be coming soon. Another big change is he's content to play by himself with toys for longer periods. We took Isaac to our shul for the first time and participated in scribing our congregation's new Torah, which was a very special family experience. I've been working most days prepping my course but the real test will be next week when classes start and I am back at the Cancer Agency one day a week. Evan is an amazing Dad and doing so well with Isaac. In the last couple weeks they took trips to Ikea, the aquarium, and Abbotsford. I'm very impressed (but not surprised) at how naturally he's taken to parental leave. If only he'd stop givingIsaac beer, hot dogs, and gigantic pancakes (see the pics for evidence of that last one).

Hope you enjoy the pictures and videos!

7.5 Months

HI all,

Our little boy is now 7 months old! In the last couple of weeks he's started to make some new sounds - we hear lots of babbling and a new high-pitched happy screaming sound (which should be fun on the plane to Toronto next week!).  He's getting much more stable sitting and is starting to think about crawling. Solid food has been going well - we've learned that Isaac is much more interested if he can help feed himself (he grabs the spoon and it gets all over, but most of it goes in!). His first tooth poked through a few days ago but so far he doesn't seem to be affected by it. This past week Isaac, Grandma Donna, and I headed up to Oliver to visit Isaac's great-grandparents and also had visits from Auntie Ali and Uncle Bryce. As I mentioned, we are heading to Toronto next week to spend some time with Evan's family which should be lots of fun! Isaac is very lucky to have such a loving family.

We hope you enjoy these latest videos and pictures!

Love,
Melisa, Evan, and Isaac
